Shift Worker Rules
General
- 36 hours per month; reviewed monthly.
- Must sign up for 1 shift per month.
- 20 hours need to be signed up for on calendar. The remaining 16 hours can be taken as regular Tuesday night meetings/training.
- Minimum 3 people/shift at station 1, with a maximum of 4-5.
- Station 2 will remain unmanned until Station 1 is fully staffed or at the discretion of the on-duty lieutenant.
- After station 1 is full for the month; shifts may be taken at station 2.
- Additional time signed up for on the calendar, (in excess of the required 20), should wait until all members have had an opportunity to sign up for their required 2
Bank Hours
- All hours worked in excess of 36/month will be accrued and saved.
- Maximum hours in the bank will be 108 hours (1 quarter).
- Time will be deducted from the bank for any month that the 36 hour requirement is not met. Time will be deducted at a 1:1 rate in 1 hour increments.
- Time will not be deducted from the bank unless the minimum, (1), shift requirement is met for the month.
- Time and status will be reviewed and begin anew each month.
- Time that has been accrued and saved in the time bank will remain in the bank and cross over to the following month.
- Once the time bank has reached the maximum of 108 hours it will remain at 108 until time is deducted to make up for a short hour month.
- Time accrued above the 108 hour maximum can be applied towards the next level of fuel reimbursement.
- Hours may not be deducted from the bank and applied towards bonus levels of reimbursement.
- Sign up priority will rotate monthly by last name alpha. The alphabet will be broken out as follows: ABCDE/FGHIJ/KLMNO/PQRST/UVWXYZ. Volunteers should sign up for shifts at the business meeting each month, and/or via the website. A calendar will be passed around at the meeting with priority sign up first and all others after. For purposes of sign-up, the shift calendar will run from the third Tuesday of the month to the third Tuesday of the following month, not the regular calendar month.
- Sign up will not be held up or wait for members who are not present at the meeting. Members may not have someone else sign up for them in their absence.
- In the interest of district coverage, shifts should be a minimum of 8 hours. Any time on duty may still be counted towards the monthly hour total at the discretion of the on-duty lieutenant.
- Members must sign up for 1 shift per month regardless of hour bank.
Communications
Lieutenants will use the cell phone paging system already in place to advise of holes and needed coverage. Shift hours worked in this manner may be applied to a member's monthly requirement, hour bank or next level of reimbursement. The shift may also be traded for a previously signed up shift, schedule permitting and at the discretion of the lieutenant.
