Message From The Chief
The Fairmount Fire Protection District continues to expand its services, skills and abilities and 2012 will bring even greater opportunities for our firefighters and the community and country we serve. We began in 2004 with the dream of having our own training center and finally finished construction in 2010, The Training Center truly is a cooperative effort beginning with a grant from the State of Colorado, Department of Local Affairs, multiple donations from the community, and the approval of a Capitol Improvements Bond for the District. The goal is and was to develop a fire, law enforcement, and emergency responder training playground to improve skills, talents, and abilities in dealing with emergency situations.
Our firefighters have stepped up to identify and work with vendors, contractors and engineers to build the facility at the lowest cost while maintaining the highest degree of safety for every training scenario and prop that was created. The facility meets or exceeds the applicable standards and requirements of NFPA, EPA, and OSHA. There is still more work to be done in the future on the Training Center.
Fairmount Fire continues to expanded its skills and abilities in the All Hazards arena. We have been very proactive in prescribed fire, wildland fire fighting, and Incident Management. Personnel have assisted with tornados, blizzards, and hurricanes that have hit across the United States.
